I made (or should I say, attempted to make) a cute illustration of a pair of glasses on which to write our different revision ideas. You know...to stick with the overall image I was trying to portray. Unfortunately my zeal was interrupted when Madison asked me why I was writing our ideas inside of a bra. Hmm. I guess I need to work on my artistic expression.

Revision Gone Wrong
My older writers are venturing into the revision stage of our fiction unit. They have been writing like maniacs and are creating beautiful pieces with heart-warming characters. I gave the first mini-lesson of the revision stage today, and encouraged my kiddos to look at the writing through a new lens--it is called reVISION after all. I used the imagery of putting on a pair of glasses that focus in on particular themes. You might wear your "Heart of the story" lenses, or your "Does this sound right?" lenses, or even your "Show, don't tell" lenses. This helps us to focus in on something very specific rather than trying to tackle every element of revision in one big chunk.
