Joyful Language Lessons

After cleaning and reorganizing my office this weekend (my workspace is in our little classroom kitchen)...

"Miss Rachel...your chicken is so clean!"

Me: "Huh?"

"Your chicken! Wow!"

Me: "Oh you  mean my kitchen?"

(Cue wild laughter from all involved.)

I fully anticipate all my students (native and non-native english speakers) to refer to my "chicken" now when talking about my office. I have often heard that a great sign of developing language proficiency is when a learner is able to joke in the language being studied.

Bring on the jokes! :) God is good!
