We have started talking about and praying with Jesus' miracles as we journey together as a class this Lent. This morning we read the story of the wedding at Cana and had a beautiful conversation about how Jesus provided for the needs of the couple, and how he provides for our every need as well.
We also discussed how Jesus could have made wine appear out of nowhere (he can do anything!), but he did not. He only performed a miracle when the waiters brought him jugs of water that he could turn into wine. It was a lesson for us to ponder--how God expects something from us. These little thinkers pondered how we must offer our hearts to Him so he can work miracles in and through us.
I posed the question: "Do you think He will work when we sit back and offer nothing? Can we expect that he will do amazing things in our lives if we just put no effort forward?"
One of my little guys asked the question of all questions.
"Yeah Miss Rachel. How do you expect to get a husband if you sit back and wait around?"
Quite the insight on my love life from a seven-year-old.
