My fifth grade dudes have been working on different multiplication strategies. We are falling in love with multiplying huuuuuuge numbers (Yes, since you are wondering, we are very nerdy). One of the coolest strategies is the lattice method. It is a way to multiply large numbers by using a grid system and calculating a series of single-digit multiplication facts.
Today these smarties created a lattice to multiply a 12 digit number by an 11 digit number. It was giant. It was awesome. We were all feeling so shocked by its magnitude.
How cool is math?
(And please do notice the bow-tie. It is Tie-day Friday at Little Way.)
