Many Monkeys

Welcome to the 2013-14 school year!  I am sitting at my computer for the first indoor recess of the year, and I am overhearing the ruckus from several different clusters of kiddos around the class. A group of boisterous boys are playing UNO. A few ladies are working on magnificent drawings. A trio is playing Battleship. And another few ladies are working on a puzzle, while planning an extravagant Walmart shopping trip (they want to buy matching high-heeled boots. When did I get so many "teenagers" in my class?). You might be thinking what I'm thinking...that sounds like a lot of kids. It is.

I have 14 monkeys in my class this year.

Fourteen!

14 in '14. (That is precious.)

I have five returners from last year, and 9 new kiddos. There is a whole lot of personality in this little classroom. We have been together for a month now (I have no idea how four weeks have passed) and the crew has meshed brilliantly so far. There are some new dynamics with this many children of different levels (I have 6 second graders, 2 third graders, 4 fourth graders, and 2 handsome fifth grade dudes), and I am learning how to meet all of their needs and make things at least remotely cohesive.

There are a million blog ideas rolling around my head, but there is homework to be copied, and math warm-ups to write, and pencil shavings to pick up, and expressionist paintings to hang (did you know we are aspiring artists at LW?), and ancient history timelines to prepare. I will provide a few pictures to tide you over, but there will be more to come soon.

Please keep us in your prayers as we jump into a year of new adventures. God provides, and he

provides in abundance!

(Please excuse any strange formatting. Blogger is about to get a swift kick in the head from yours truly.)
