It has been pouring rain for 4 straight days. I kid you not. It took a quick break yesterday afternoon so we could scoot outside for some recess. Some stomping-in-the-mud-don't-you-dare-track-that-back-in-the-classroom recess. But we are once again inside today for the continuing chronicles of indoor recess. The rain will simply not stop.
I am trying to convince myself that joys can come from indoor recess. I love this crew to the moon and back, but we all are getting a bit sick of each other. And when I say "we all are" I really mean I am. So tired. Of being trapped in here. But here goes anyway...
29) Rousing Uno games. The kind with yelling and screaming and falling off your chair.
30) Pattern block designs. Especially when you try to carry them around the classroom on a clipboard and drop pieces all over the place. Seems reasonable that Miss Rachel would pick those up, right? False.
31) Origami creature making. The kind that uses lots of our computer paper after MR already asked you 19 times to use scrap paper. And the kind that continue to be played with during instruction.
32) Fiction story writing (Okay this one really is joyful.)
33) Crown making. I was crowned Queen of the classroom today. I should be the Queen of Indoor Recess. I will be known throughout history for my patience. And my "teacher looks". (The crew has seen a lot of those this week. Each one says some rendition of "You have got to be kidding me.")
34) Portrait making. This is from one of my buddies who I have been with for three years. I know I should have said something cutesie and grateful. But my only response could be..."Honestly? Blue eyes? How long have we been together? And am I really that stern looking?"
Apologies that this post is obviously on the snarky side. Just a bit of rainy day/week angst for y'all! Clearly I am tired of indoor recess. :) Ready for the sunshine!

I like this sassy side :)
