MR: Mister...can you believe this snow? How dare it come on March 25th?
Dude: I know! (peering out the window at the snow with angst) You have insulted me in every way possible and I must ask you to leave.
Yes. You are thinking correctly (or most likely not thinking this at all). A third grade dude quoted Miss Elizabeth Bennet in casual conversation. Lizzy is humiliated by Lady Catherine at the end of Pride and Prejudice. I have read them bits and pieces of the text. And he spoke to the snow as if it was Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Beyond brilliant.
But other than the unwelcome snow, spring has been lovely so far. Here are some of its cute joys:
35) Daffodils for a teacher in a pasta sauce jar.
36) Giant hole digging. Which ended in a huge, sloppy, mess, but was deliciously fun. (More to come on this Book Club project soon.)
38) Shamrock planting on the back porch. Because...why not? Look at those faces!
39) A little spring poem from a second grade lady. You go girl.
The winter air is fading down.
The bright sun is turning around.
Flowers are blooming.
Their smell is sweet.
And the grass tickles under your feet.
40) Preparing for Holy Week and reading the stories of Jesus' life. And the parables, too. This crew is determined to be lamps on lampstands and not under bushel baskets. God is good!
