Alive!!

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about this teaching life is I get to journey with this crew. Sure I get to see the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of every day, but I get to be a part of the big stuff, too.

This Easter, for example, was up there on my top five teaching moments of all time. My sweet English-learning lady read at Easter Mass. She proclaimed God's Word. From the ambo. With clarity and confidence and grace (which I am quite sure many college educated adults don't have the courage to attempt).  It was remarkable.

She and I worked after school one day this week and talked all about the resurrection. We listened to a breath-taking song about Mary Magdalene. We wrote down the lyrics. Actually...I did very little. I was amazed by how much her English has improved. She understood nearly everything, and wrote it down on her own.

It was a simple little afternoon for us, but I guess these little things are turning into not so little things these days. Not only is Jesus alive, but his plan for this sweet girl is unfolding before me. It is such a joy to watch.
