We have been working on a study of birds to begin a semester long unit on vertebrates. I gave Noah and Madison the choice of any bird to focus on for their own research. I was anticipating some exotic or extraorinary--a pelican, toucan, flamingo, penguin, etc. Much to my surprise, Noah was determined with his choice. A crow. The smelliest, ugliest bird around.
We have been studying the crow, and I have been struggling to find resources (I don't know many people that are interested in reading an entire book on the crow) that are appropriate for Noah. But where there is a will there is a way! Today Noah insisted that he know the size of the crow's brain. Perhaps obsure, but nonetheless important. We decided to check online to see what we could find and this video came up. We had read that crows are very good at finding food, but little did we know! Noah and I were astonished by how creative and clever the crow can be. After watching the video, he looked at me like he had just unlocked an impossible secret code. Who knew a crow could bring such enlightenment? Clever Crows

I love that Noah is interested in things like this!
ReplyDeleteI love how Noah thinks and processes information. He knows so many details. I am glad the school is going well for the big kids too! I am interested in which bird Madison chose! LOL! Tell Madison and Noah I love them and miss them.
