A King for Miss Rachel

It has been quite an adventure as Noah and I have journeyed through thousands of years of ancient history (wow!). We have been fascinated by the mighty kings and powerful warriors that have left their mark on history, and in the pages of our books.

We recently traveled to the Assyrian Empire--the capital of which--Nineveh--resided in the same place of the inhabitants of ancient Mesopotamia so many years prior. Noah was beyond elated to hear about King Ashurbanipal who was a strong and powerful ruler in Assyria. Our history text is on CD and Noah listened as I worked with Madison. He came over and frantically relayed to us that the King loved to read and he sent people all over his empire to search for stone tablets with writing. His palace soon became an expansive library with all kinds of historical documents--even parts of Hammurabi's code from the time of the Babylonian empire.

Noah described how King Ashurbanipal was one of the first librarians and treasured reading and writing. Noah and Madison shared a mischevious look as if they had some juicy gossip to share. Noah responded will an,"OOOoooooh" as Madison informed me that the king would be a good match for me. "That sounds like your kind of king, Miss Rachel!" Although I certainly appreciate it, my litte match-makers are about 2700 years too late. Bummer :)
