Getting ready for Reconciliation

Although spring certainly is not around the corner here at a rather frigid Covecrest, we are beginning to prepare for some exciting spring happenings. Noah will be making his First Holy Communion this spring and we have started learning and preparing our hearts now. In a little bit he will be making his first reconciliation, so we have been discussing what it means to love God and to love our neighbor--and that sometimes, as humans, we fail to do that.

Today we were talking about how important it is to respect God's name. To spark conversation, I asked him what it means to disrespect the name of God and to not show him the honor and glory he deserves. My question regarding the actual name of God was taken quite literally. After a few moments of pondering, the answer was clear.

"Oh. Yes. We might disrespect God's name by moving the letters around. You know...like D-O-G instead of G-O-D. Then we would be calling him a dog. It is not loving to call God a big, huge dog."
