I am so curious what "mimic" could mean.

We have added inferring to our repetroire of reading strategies that help us to become amazing, spectacular readers. Today we read a mysterious Japanese folktale and pulled out unfamiliar words to disect and infer the meaning of. We used context clues, the pictures, and our background knowledge to make educated guesses about the meaning of each word.

Noah chose a fascinating question and answer book about animals to work with during his independent reading time. He put his new strategy right to work! There is an African vine snake that "mimics" vines in his environment in order to trick potential prey. "I am inferring that mimic means to pretend you are something else, or to trick something or someone with your looks." Holy smokes...great inferring Noah!
